Why hello there reader!

Thanks for opening up this week's News & Notes email. Yes, things look a little differently this time around - your eyes aren't fooling you. With the launch of our new website, we thought it was time for a new design to the weekly email as well. But all the same (and great?) content you've come to expect each Thursday will still be here (including the "Just For Fun" section which we know causes some of you only to open this email to simply scroll to the bottom, enjoy the Just For Fun video, and then delete this email. But we still love you.).

Anyway... on with the email!
Holy Week Worship 2022

Holy Week Worship 2022

It's here: the most important week in the Christian calendar! While our culture tends to get more excited about Christmas, Easter is actually more important. Christmas celebrates Jesus' birth (which is a REALLY big deal!), but babies are born all the time. However, it is NOT common for someone to rise from the dead a couple days after they were brutally killed by governmental authorities. And not only is the resurrection of Jesus the greatest miracle the world has ever seen or ever will see, He predicted all of it!

That's why this Sunday we will be looking at the Easter story (which, I will admit, we talk about almost every Sunday!) as we finish up the book of Mark. To prepare you for our Resurrection celebration, here are some ideas for how to make this "Holy Week" weekend full of worship to draw your heart to God:

THURSDAY (Today)
FRIDAY
SATURDAY
  • Read Isaiah 53.
  • Watch Part 3 of the three-part video teaching series on Easter (6-minutes long).
  • Send a reminder text to anyone you invited to Sunday's Worship Gathering to join you.
  • Take a walk through your neighborhood, praying for this weekend to not just be a holiday weekend, but truly a Holy Weekend for your neighbors. Pray specifically for your neighbors to find and follow Jesus.
SUNDAY
  • Come to Riverwood's Building at 2704 5th Ave NW to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! We'll start promptly at 9:30 am. And if you have kids, let them know they will be joining you in the celebration!
  • Before you come Easter morning, listen to "Glorious Day," (with which we'll close our Worship Gathering) to help prepare your heart to celebrate!

Good Friday Service

This Friday, invite someone and come worship together at the Community-Wide Good Friday service. We will be gathering with four other church families in the W-SR Middle School Auditorium from 7-8 pm. What an awesome evening it will be as we join with fellow Jesus-followers in remembering His great sacrifice. (There will be childcare for children 4 and under.)

Easter Sunday

We will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior this Sunday at 9:30 am. Come early and grab a cup of coffee and a treat! If there's someone God has been laying on your heart this week to invite to our Easter service, don't delay! Reminder: there will be no Kids Creek this week so families can worship together.

The Table. Waverly

On Monday, April 18 at 6:30 PM, The Waverly Table is being hosted at the Riverwood building. Join us for an evening to connect with other women in the community who desire to go deeper into their faiths with Jesus. We'll have a short devotion and a video, plus questions to answer at our tables. Come on by and check it out!

Just For Fun

The more adventurous and determined of you may have braved the winds and rain this week to fire up your grills or have that outdoor picnic, but these people take dining to a whole new level! Would you ever dine like this (if the hundreds of dollars price point doesn't scare you away!)?
