Just because things are allowed by law, it doesn’t mean they benefit us. We should also not be dominated by them. Just because we can do something - doesn’t mean it’s wise to do it.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord and the Lord for the body. We don’t belong to ourselves, for we were bought with a price. This is important to understand when making decisions regarding sexual immorality.
When God made Adam and Eve, he made them as sexual beings. This makes sex a good thing. It’s also made for bonding between two humans - a male and a female.
What is sexually immoral?
Our culture’s definition:
Culture’s definition is constantly changing. This is why we shouldn’t make our judgments on what sexual immorality is based on our culture's current popular thinking.
God’s definition:
Any sexual act performed outside the bonds of marriage between one man and one woman is sexual immorality.
What should be our approach?
In 1 Timothy 1:8-15, Paul directly calls out sin. After listing all of the sins, Paul lumps himself into sin with everyone else. He even says he is the worst of them. It’s important to note that everyone is disgusting in their sin - not just sexual sins.
