Sept FirstServe: Gardening to Make a Difference

August 26, 2013

Because we had so much fun the first time (and got a LOT accomplished!), Riverwood Church will be serving the community of Waverly on Tuesday, Sept 3 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Community Gardens.

You! (Even if you aren’t part of Riverwood – really!)

Because we get to help feed people! Just as Jesus fed the crowds, we get to help feed the hungry of Waverly.  The food harvested from the Community Gardens is given to the Monday night “All Saints Café”, the Wednesday night Community Meal at the Vineyard Church, the Senior Center, and any extras donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

Weeding, harvesting, having fun, and doing anything else asked of us

Garden gloves, work clothes, any garden tools you want to bring along (some hoes will be provided), and a friend!

The Community Gardens are located on 2nd St. SW between 5th and 6th Ave.

Tuesday, Sept 3 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  If you have to come late or leave early, please still join us!

The Community Gardens have a blog with simple, healthy recipes and gardening tips.

Riverwood Church, Waverly Iowa

We are on a mission to help people love like Jesus loved and live like Jesus lived.

It doesn't matter to us if you:

  • are a Wartburg student or a grandparent,
  • vote Democrat or Republican,
  • are married, divorced, or single,
  • have gone to church for years or haven't been to church in years,
  • make $100,000/yr. or wonder how you're going to pay rent this month,
  • or fear your past mistakes make you unlovable to God or others.

No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, we want to help you become who God has created you to be.
