Waiting for the Priest (Waiting for Arrival #2)

Psalm 110:4, Genesis 14:17-20, Hebrews 4:14-5:4, 7:4-7

"The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." Psalm 110:4 ESV

Who is Melchizedek? Scripture doesn’t provide a lot of information except that he was a king, he was a high priest of God, and Abram gave him 10% of the spoils.

The Priesthood is comprised of three groups:

1. Levites - managed and organized the religious aspects
2. Ordinary Priests - descendants of Aaron
3. High Priest - rules over the other priests. Comparable to the chief justice. He is of the people, chosen by God to represent the people, in order to make atonement for the people.

Jesus, the Priest

1. Gives you peace (Hebrews 4:14-16)
2. Gives you a purpose (1 Peter 2:9)
