Society wants us to find our center in ourselves. Phrases like “ you are enough” are commonly parroted on social media and from person to person to help overwhelmed people try to find self-empowerment.
Christians, instead, should find their center in the gospel. In Colossians 1:1-8, Paul breaks this down for the church at Colossae.
God’s response to sin is the cross. This means that our toil and work can bring joy even though it was handed down as a punishment for Adam and Eve’s sin in the garden. In our labor and toil, we are working towards an ultimate joy.
