Loving The Unlovable People (Mark #37)

Jesus, once again, shows his power when healing the blind man, Bartimaeus. More importantly, he shows us how to love those that we might consider unlovable. Even more than that, Bartimaeus gives up one of his only possessions to seek healing from Jesus.

What person/people are in your life that you could go out of your way to show more of Christ’s love to? What things are in your way between a closer relationship with our Lord? Pastor Erin breaks down this passage in Mark 10:46-52 to help us better see how to show Christ’s love to others.

What Does Greatness Look Like? (Mark #36)

James and John approach Jesus asking if they may be seated at his right and left hand in glory. While sincere, this question is based in selfishness. When you live life in a selfish way, you continue to act selfishly even after humbling experiences.

Happy Mother’s Day! Good mothers often give up their desires for the good of their children. Jesus explains how each of us should also give up our selfish desires to follow him. What selfish things can you let go of in order to follow Him?

What Can You Do To Enter Heaven? (Mark #35)

When the rich, young ruler approached Christ and asked “What must I do to be saved,” Jesus responded by telling the young ruler to give away everything he owns and follow Him. Even the disciples were surprised when Jesus comments how it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich man to enter heaven.

Pastor Erin dissects this passage from Mark chapter 10 verses 17-27 and explains why the ruler was missing the whole point. While listening, we encourage you to think about things in your life that are keeping you from a full relationship with Christ.

Let The Children Come to Him (Mark #34)

Jesus showed that he could heal many people simply by touching them. Is it a surprise that parents are pushing their children towards Him in hopes of healing or blessings? Yet, when the children started surrounding Jesus, the disciples were quick to rebuke the parents for surrounding Him with these children.

Listen as Pastor Erin Bird explains why Jesus was quick to stop his disciples and welcome the children into his presence. At the end of the sermon, Sam & Jodi dedicate their child to Christ with the rest of Riverwood pledging to support this dedication.
